Hawaii Book and Music Festival presents a Special Presentation - Music - Makana in Concert at Kawaiaha‘o Church

The last protégé of Slack Key Master Sonny Chillingworth, Makana has gone on to serve his community and the world as torch bearer for the uniquely Hawai'ian art form. His music has been featured on 3 Grammy® nominated albums while Guitar Player magazine rated him one of the top 3 guitarists in the US in 2008. Makana employs his talent and platform to serve more inclusive and sustainable social and environmental visions. He has supported global acts including Sting, Santana, Jason Mraz, Common, Gotye and Joe Walsh of The Eagles, performed for the Obama White House, and penned anthems for Occupy Wall Street and other progressive movements. Makana is currently workshopping an original musical intended for broadway.
