The jeweled-tone glass sculpture, now on permanent display in the middle terrace, collects and emanates light throughout the day. For artist Rick Mills, his sculpture serves as a metaphor for the celebration of life and vitality.

Hamkkeh Exhibit by Lauren Hana Chai & Ashley Ryan Wells
함께 - Hamkkeh means ‘Together’ in Korean.
Korean-American painter Lauren Hana Chai and ceramic sculptor Ashley Ryan Wells have come together in an unconventional way bringing their unique individual styles and collaboration pieces which were kept raw via omitting communication on the process and rather focusing on creating intuitively. With a challenge so unique, these sculptures showcase the different perspectives and stories they have when looking at the same piece.

Art at Thomas Square is a rotating sculpture program and part of a vision the City & County had to not only beautify the space of Thomas Square park, but to also engage the public with thought-provoking artwork recognizing the significance of the park’s history.
The Mayor’s Office of Culture and the Arts commissioned two temporary and site-specific artworks: Ho‘okumu—Moana (2020) by Bernice Akamine and 16 Cube Truss (About Building Systems) (2020) by Sean Connelly.
