Mo’olelo Studios presents “The Year Christmas Was Almost Cancelled”

A brand-new original musical about a medical condition that threatens the annual holiday celebration as Santa, his wife and his faithful elves deal with the fallout of having to cancel Christmas for a year. This heart-warming story about the true importance of the season features a small, tight-knit cast including Broadway performer Matthew Pederson as the jolly man in the red suit. Mo’olelo Studios’ artistic and managing director, Kyle Kakuno, - a longtime Honolulu actor, director and producer – writes and directs the musical while Po’okela Award winner, Roslyn Catracchia lyricist/composer for Lisa Matsumoto’s renown Once Upon One Time Trilogy, will serve as composer and musical director for the production. “We wanted to bring something new and fun for the families this Christmas. Especially after the cancellation of live events due to the pandemic!”, says Kakuno. Catracchia agrees, “Hawaii needs something joyful and exciting. Kyle and I have been working together for over 30 years, so – after having no productions for the past couple of years – it has been refreshing and a total blessing to be working on a brand-new holiday season musical that families can enjoy.”
