Itajime (folded and clamped) Shibori Art Class

  • Honolulu Museum of Art School 1111 Victoria Street Honolulu, HI, 96814 United States (map)

Explore the multilayered geometric designs produced by the itajime shibori tradition of folding, clamping, and dying fabrics. In this three-session workshop, students can create a collection of cloth samples, upcycle a wardrobe item or create simple wall-hangings. A visit to the museum will supplement demonstrations and provide inspiration for your work. The dyeing process will be completed during the workshop, but students will need to wash out fabrics at home.
