Soap Making Naturally Class presented by Hawaiʻi Handweavers' Hui

  • Downtown Art Center 1041 Nuuanu Avenue Honolulu, HI, 96817 United States (map)

Soap: we use it everyday to wash our hands and our bodies. But what is soap and how does a substance that starts as a liquid become a solid bar?

Ghislaine Chock will teach the class using a cold process that begins with five vegetable oils and  40 essential oils for fragrance. The mixture goes through saponification, the  adding of sodium hydroxide, a requirement of all soaps. The final step is molding the soap into a bar.

“There are no preservatives, shelf life extenders, chemical detergents, hardeners or synthetic lathering agents in these naturally made soaps,” says Chock.
