Intro to Prismatic Palette Acrylic Painting with Marina Borovok (6 sessions-Wednesdays)
Learn painting techniques for prismatic colors. Prismatic colors are the colors that can be seen when white light goes through a prism. The class will work with primary (red, yellow, blue) and secondary (orange, violet, and green) hues. The value scale of hues will be the essence of the pre-mixing colors.
Lauren Hana Chai: The Fives Senses
Known for contrasting her traditional Korean upbringing with modern American life, Hawai‘i-based painter and ceramicist Lauren Hana Chai (b. 1991) includes a personal story or cultural narrative within each work of art. Her current series juxtaposes traditional elements such as Korean folk art and Buddhist temple architecture, with reflections on modern society and contemporary identity. This exhibition continues the museum’s commitment to presenting work by contemporary Hawai‘i artists.

Creativity Takes Courage! -Matisse
Students will engage in drawing and painting exploration that will inspire them to learn about Kandinsky, Thiébaud, Jackson Pollock, Matisse, and other famous artists, as well as finding the creative artist within. Using the tools and techniques of charcoal, pastel, pens and paint media, students will improve their skills and free their artistic expression. We are communicators… We are problem solvers… We are artists!
Tuesday Portrait Sessions (Weekly)

Tuesdays from 1-3:30 PM weekly
Tuition: $15 per session
The Tuesday Portrait Drawing Group is a weekly, artist-run, uninstructed drawing session with live models, a supportive group of artists and plenty of creative spirit! Artists are asked to bring their own equipment and supplies. DAC provides tables and chairs, but artists may bring their own easels. The focus of this group session is on capturing the portrait of the clothed model, who will be maintaining the pose for 2.5 hours (with breaks).
“Kānehūnāmoku” by Koa ‘Ike Photos and Paintings Exhibit
Photographs and paintings by Jan Becket and Dawn Yoshimura of the Waiʻanae land section from Kepuhi Point to Kaʻena Point. Exhibition is curated by Glen Kila and Christophor Oliveira of Koa ʻIke, respected Waiʻanae historians and community members
Workshop: Color and Texture
In this intensive painting, class students will be encouraged to challenge their ideas of color and the medium of paint. With weekly exercises and *optional* assignments, student will be able to walk away with a broadened understanding of basics of form and composition
