45th Annual Day at Hānaiakamalama, the Queen Emma Summer Palace Festival
The 45th Annual Day at Hānaiakamalama, the Queen Emma Summer Palace Festival - The cherished community festival for Hānaiakamalama returns!
All proceeds from the Day go towards the historic preservation, maintenance and operations of the Palace and grounds.
Queen Emma was a strong supporter of education and healthcare for her people and her legacy lives on through the institutions she started with her husband, Alexander Liholiho who reigned as King Kamehameha IV. These institutions like The Queen’s Health System, St. Andrew’s Schools, and ʻIolani School continue to serve the people of Hawaiʻi today.
Hānaiakamalama was built in 1848, making it older than the present day ‘Iolani Palace which was built in 1882! Queen Emma inherited the home in 1857 from her uncle Keoni Ana, also known as John Young II, who served as Kuhina Nui or Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Hawai‘i from 1845 to 1855. Queen Emma frequented the estate as a young girl and with the passing of her uncle, used the estate as a private, mountain retreat from the city, often hosting private dinners, balls, and dance parties.

Welcome to our monthly Benefit Sound Bath Series! My mission behind creating this series is to bring more peace to the community and to the world. It is designed to fill you with serenity, and healing that you can spread throughout your community, while at the same time helping nonprofit organizations throughout the nation and the world. This month, 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Women’s Fund of Hawaii This Yoga Nidra/Sound Healing event is designed to help bring a little peace, and comfort to your life. These are stressful times, and it is more important than ever to take time to care for yourself. We hope this session helps fill your cup and energizes you to care for others, and to face the long journey ahead towards creating a more equitable society for all. The more we bond together and support each other through difficult times, the stronger we will be as a whole. We are more powerful together! Monique will guide the first half of the session with a gentle yoga routine set to crystal singing bowls to encourage relaxation and finding your center. You will then lay down for the practice of “yoga nidra” or yogic sleep. This is a guided meditation that deeply relaxes the body, breath and mind while leading the practitioner into an “in-between place” – a state between awake and asleep. It is here that one can truly de-stress, rejuvenate and let go. During the second half of the class Bryan will immerse you in a musical sound journey with the crystal singing bowls. It is designed to help you reach a theta brainwave state, where deep healing, and rest occurs. You will leave the class feeling rejuvenate, restored, and with more peace in your heart. About KUPU Hawaii
Established in 2007 as a Honolulu-based 501(c)3 non-profit, Kupu affirms the Hawaiian notion of “ma ka hana ka ʻike” or “in working one learns.” This approach has led to the creation of hundreds of internships and service-learning opportunities which blend vocational training and green leadership development to support more than 100 partner sites across Hawaiʻi and the Pacific region.Kupu, which means “to sprout” or “to grow” in Hawaiian, has a two-fold mission: to preserve the land while empowering youth. The organization provides hands-on training in conservation, sustainability, and environmental education for young adults, with the goal of fostering our next generation of environmental and cultural stewards. Kupu’s work has been likened to the role of the kupukupu fern, which is one of the first plants to cultivate the land after a lava flow. The fern not only serves as a foundational species for rebuilding a healthy, native ecosystem, but it also symbolizes a place where knowledge can grow.
