Mele Murals Fall Program 2023 Registration Now Open
This Art and Hawaiian Culture program is available for students in 3rd-5th grade. This program is designed to engage keiki in a culture-focused arts curriculum perpetuating Hawaiian culture.
“‘A‘ohe ‘ulu e loa‘a i ka pokole o ka lou.” This Hawaiian proverb saying translates too, no breadfruit can be reached when the picking stick is too short. Meaning, there is no success without preparation. The ʻulu tree stands as a symbol of growth, its tall stature holds upright with its roots gripping its foundation. When the winds blow and the storms come, it remains steadfast in itʻs place. Itʻs strong foundation allows for a sturdy and powerful body with much opportunity for growth. As we study this theme in the Fall Program, the keiki will have the opportunity to take root in their identity, their culture, in the arts, and so much more.
